If Ghanaians thought the erratic power supply was ending anytime soon, then they should brace themselves for more crisis in the coming months.

A government communicator, Eric Ametor Quarmyne has announced that the dumsor situation can only be solved a year from now.

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) consultant speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Monday, 26th January, 2015 said the government can only deal with the crisis after a year.

“What would Ghanaians do…they have to wait for one more year to wait for us to end the crisis… by the end of this year, we would have solved it,” he said in response to host, Kwadwo Asare Barfour Acheampong (KABA’s) question on when Ghanaians should expect an end to the power crisis.

The over three year old power crisis is fast crippling Ghana’s economy with several businessmen calling on government to help end the crisis.

Numerous demonstrations have also been staged across the country to protest same, with students having to walk miles to access light to do their homework.

Students in the University of Ghana are also being charged GHC 100 to buy generator plants to power the various halls of residence and also help with academic work.

But Ametor insists the government would end the crisis by the end of the year.

His conviction, he said is based on the numerous plans put in place by the government to counter the crisis.
