Man Graduates At 72

If you think four years is a long time to wait until you receive your degree, just imagine waiting 72 years for it.

That is the story of Mr Leonard Adzetey who enrolled at the Presbyterian University College and finally graduated with Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration ( Management Option) in August, 2014 at age 72.

“I feel so blessed to have undertaken this course which has uplifted me in life despite my age,” Mr Adzetey proudly said.

Speaking to The Mirror, Mr Adzetey stated that  apart from the grace of God which made this feat possible, his family, course mates and lecturers also motivated him to push on.

“When I enrolled and commenced lectures at the Tema Campus, many of the younger students in my class were surprised. Even the lecturers were equally surprised but knowing what I wanted to achieve, I persevered. I always encouraged myself and competed academically with my course mates.”

Mr Adzetey said  he is equipped to take on other challenges, his age not withstanding.

Recounting his campus days, the father of four said he felt uneasy in the first three months.

“Sitting down for three-hour lectures proved very challenging, considering my age. I had pains in my foot and waist from the long hours of sitting. Sometimes I couldn’t even see the board clearly but after  a few months, I adjusted to the system and gradually shrugged them off and moved on.”
