When You Don Black Stars' Replica Jersey People Think There Must Be Something Wrong With You

National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu expressed worry over the loss of the excitement in the national team, the Black Stars, due to management issues that deserve to be resolved.

Though the national team has qualified to the quarter finals of the 2015 African Nations Cup held at Equatorial Guinea, several Ghanaian soccer fans seem to have lost taste for the team.

Following the Black Stars' debacle from the 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup, horde of soccer fans in the nation appear not to have recovered from the backlash.

Speaking on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo", John Boadu was worried that the management of the team has woefully failed to streamline the team.

He was displeased by the sudden lack of euphoria and a sense of patriotism that for years characterized any tournament that saw the Black Stars in action.

He recalled that during the match between the Black Stars and the South Africa, he heard soccer fans ecstatic shouts and thought the Black Stars has secured a goal over their counterparts but only to be told that the South African team had rather scored the Black Stars.

This he noted exemplifies the reactions of Ghanaians towards the team in the ongoing AFCON.

“When you wear Black Stars jersey right now and somebody sees you; the person might even think you are not correct. But those times, if you didn’t have anything symbolizing Ghana flag or something representing Ghana; you would even apologize. I admit that we’re sinking so low.”

John Boadu called on the football authorities to re-ignite the craze around the team since, in his view, the performances of the team inure to the benefits of the entire nation.

The "economic value of having a winsome team and a team that performs [which is the Black Stars]" should not be undermined; he noted.
