Nana Addo's Deafening Silence On Bugri Naabu's Tape Is A Recipe For Disaster

Katakyie Kwame Opoku Agyemang, a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the Presidential candidate of the party to take the bull by the horn by instilling discipline among the rank and file of the biggest opposition party.

To him, the deafening silence of Nana Akufo-Addo on the seemingly unending acts of indisclipne by some leading members of the party, which has the potential of permeating through to the grassroots, is “unbelievably dangerous” for the party.

“..if even some of us who spoke openly against the candidature of the flagbearer of our party were chastised and victimized, why would anyone turn a deaf ear to puerile utterances of people occupying positions as high as Regional Chairman.

“Why would Nana Addo keep mute when his National Chairman and General Secretary are being insulted by Bugri Naabu? Why would he not issue a statement to condemn him? Katekyie Opoku Agyemang asked.

According to him, Nana Addo seem to be unconsciously reinforcing the perception that he is endorsing these acts of indiscipline by his silence.

“..this is the same thing he did when Ex-President Kufour was insulted by people claiming to be supporters of Nana Addo, but he refused to utter a word. They turned their guns on the Otumfuo; Nana Addo never said anything even though the revered chief was coming under a barrage of insults from his supporters.

“Now, it is the turn of Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, I plead with Nana Addo to as a matter OF urgency, come out with a statement to condemn Bugri Naabu,” he maintained.

His comments come on the heels of the airing of a leaked tape on which the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu was heard alleging that the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong, the General Secretary were ‘in bed’ with President Mahama, who doubles as the leader of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He further claimed that the two have already received Toyota Landcruiser V8 vehicles and large sums of money from President John Mahama’s brother; however, Katakyie Kwame Opoku Agyemang is of the conviction that these statements are reckless and a sign of indiscipline creeping up the hierarchy of the NPP, which Nana Addo must prune.
