Archbishop Appeals To Leaders To Pursue The Truth

The Most Rev Thomas Mensah,  Emeritus Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, has appealed to leaders to pursue the truth and overcome devilish desires of greed and envy.

He said without this, efforts at promoting unity and harmony in the society would struggle.

The Archbishop Emeritus was performing the installation of the Rev Fr James Buachie-Agyeman as the Parish Priest of the Saint Joseph Catholic Church at Tarkwa-Maakro in Kumasi.

The Most Rev Mensah reminded the congregation to epitomize all that was right and dignified to become good examples to the rest of the people.

He said they should uphold “our common humanity” by helping to make things better for the poor and the vulnerable.

He said the Church was determined to assume control over the management of its schools to inculcate in the youth strong Christian values of integrity, accountability, modesty and fellow-feeling.

The Rev Father Buachie-Agyeman said his focus was to unite the church behind the goal of reaching more people with the gospel.

He said he would spare no effort to make sure that the Saint Catherine de Seina at Bremang-Abusuakruwa, an out-station of the parish, is upgraded into a rectorate.

He said he would also work hard to make the Bishop Sarpong International School and Junior High School (JHS) centres of academic excellence and preferred schools of choice.

The Church President, Mr. John Agyeman-Powers, spoke of plans to build a hospital at Tarkwa and said they had already acquired land for the facility.
