The Disgrace Is Just Too Much Nana Akomea Fumes

Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea says Ghanaians are tired of the pain being inflicted by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

According to him, the legacy of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, which included stable power and a bustling economy, have been destroyed by the NDC administration over the past six years.

Citing the three years and counting of the ongoing power crisis as one of the many ills afflicting Ghanaians, Nana Akomea said the problem has become so bad that industries and other businesses are collapsing or being forced to downsize and lay people off, a situation he describes as a "disgrace".

Ghana is currently struggling with power generation which has led to an intensified load shedding exercise.

Electricity consumers are at their wits end as the government struggles to resolve the power generation challenges.

Businesses and households have been adversely affected by the situation which has persisted for almost three years.

The President has indicated that several ongoing power generation projects are underway to deal with the situation in the near future.

But Nana Akomea on Adom FM on Friday insisted that for a nation that prides itself on attaining middle income status, a failure to provide adequate and reliable electricity was unacceptable.

He noted that the situation not only drives investors away from the country but has become a disgrace to the nation.

“For God's sake, this Mahama-led administration has done a lot of harm to Ghanaians, at least show some respect and decorum to the fact that people are dying out of this dumsor thing.

“The disgrace is just too much for us” he bemoaned.

In a sharp rebuttal however, a leading member of NDC, Horace Nii Ankrah said the NPP are only interested in "talking but not providing solutions to solve the problem."

He maintained that the government is trying all its possible best to bring the situation under control.

“There are several ideas we are bringing to make the people smile again and so I get upset when the NPP always talk about the problem but not the solution” he added.
