Dumsor Demonstration..Kwakye Ofosu Lashes Out At NPP

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has lashed out at the main opposition party against their planned ‘dumsor demonstration’

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set February 18, 2015 to demonstrate against the erratic power supply facing the country. The demonstration, according to the party, is also aimed at expressing their disgust over the worsening economic situation in the country.

The NPP made this known at a press conference in Accra today.

But deputy Communication Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Asempa FM Tuesday noted that their demonstration cannot be an alternative to the solution of the energy crisis.

"NPP's demonstration is an opportunistic intervention just for political capital" he stated.

The deputy Communications Minister said some of the measures will see the government add 1000 megawatts of electricity to the national grid in the short term, while medium term projects will increase Ghana’s installed capacity to 5000 megawatts.

“In fact, I expect the NPP to instead of hitting the roads and demonstrating over the power problems, they should rather bring in more and better alternatives to solve the situation and stop chastising.

Kwakye Ofosu said “we didn’t do that while we were in opposition and so what is their problem, their behavior is strictly a political benefit” he said.
