Kofi Adams Replies Informer: The Presidency Isn't A Market Place For People To Just Walk In And Out Anyhow

National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Kofi Adams has debunked a publication by The Informer - an Accra daily sympathetic to the cause of the ruling party - that the Chief of Staff at the Presidency is causing a division between the Presidency and the NDC.

The Informer claims it "is reporting on authority that the NDC may be forced to take an open stance against their leader, if he does not as a matter of urgency get rid of his Chief of Staff, Mr. Prosper Douglas Kwaku Bani having brought to his attention the disaffection and the gross embarrassment the personality mentioned above continues to bring to him (Mahama) and the party".

The pro-government newspaper further indicated that "the slip-ups of Mr. Prosper Bani as Chief of Staff has hit the roof that the NDC is no longer prepared to keep quiet and watch the party go into opposition".

According to the Editor in Chief of The Informer Newspaper, "Mr. Prosper Bani has denied party elders from seeing the President at the Flagstaff House on several occasions they have made a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama".

But reacting to the story, the NDC's National Organizer stated on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show that the publication was false as the Chief of Staff, at the various levels in the party, has facilitated meetings for the President to have interactions with the party members.

If you consider the work of the President and his team in terms of focusing on the problems of the country, if all of us decide to go to the Presidency, it will be impossible…..as a National Organizer of NDC, I say it is not true”, Kofi Adams asserted.

He however urged that people who have no appointment with the President must be prepared to exercise patience as the President cannot abandon his work at the Presidency to attend to such individuals.

you cannot go there without an appointment during working hours and so if you don’t have the patience to wait then you have a problem because you can’t go to a place without prior notification…..I don’t think that the Presidency can be turned to a market place where you can walk in and out the way you like; it works with schedule and so I believe that the leaders there are doing what they can do best and it is left with the rest of us to do our part to help the country move forward…..we must follow due structures before we can see the President”, he charged.
