Man In Trouble For Threatening His Mother In-Law

The Bibiani Circuit Court presided over by Mr Baptist Kwadwo Filson, has ordered a man accused of threatening to kill the mother in-law to be held in police custody.

Akwesi Kejah, 40, is facing charges of threat of death, unlawful entry and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence and would make his next appearance on Wednesday, February 25.

Police Chief Inspector Lucky Goglomi told the court that the accused is married to the daughter of the complainant, Madam Mercy Asantewaah, and they all live at Addaikrom, near Bonsu-Nkwanta.

For some time now Kejah has been suspecting the wife, Afia Korkor, of cheating on him and his suspicion heightened, when the spouse left for Somanya without informing him.

The prosecution said three days after his lover’s unexplained departure the accused, armed with a cutlass, stormed the house of the in-law and threatened to butcher her at about 2050 hours.

The woman managed to escape but that did not stop Kejah from breaking into the room of Korkor, packed her belongings in a bag and carried it away.

Chief Inspector Goglomi said the complainant returned to find the mess and made a formal report to the police.

The accused in his caution statement denied threatening the life of Madam Asantewaah but confessed to packing away the wife’s personal belongings, which had since been recovered.
