Education Ministry Summons Recalcitrant SHS Heads Over Unapproved Fees

The Education Ministry has summoned heads of some Senior High Schools in the country for charging more than the approved tuition fees, StarrFMonline.com has learnt.

The development follows reports that some senior high school authorities are asking parents to pay double fees for students in their final year.

Last month, the ministry in a statement warned school authorities involved in such acts to desist or face sanctions.

“It has come to the attention of the ministry that some Heads of Senior High Schools are charging fees for two terms and insisting that parents pay same before their wards are admitted.

“This practice remains in flagrant violation of government policy and directives we have earlier circulated in this regard,” the statement noted.

It added: “The Ministry takes a serious view to this development and assures the general public that steps are being taken to sanction heads who are found to have flouted this directive”.

StarrFMonline.com understands school heads who will be found culpable after today’s interrogations will be severely punished by the ministry.
