Wikipedia Registers �Dumsor Dumsor��

“Dumsor is a popular Ghanaian term used to describe persistent electric power outages which has resulted due to the insufficient power production to meet the population growth of the country. Insufficient power supply means that load shedding is carried out daily by the Ghana Grid Company and Electricity Company of Ghana in Ghana”

The above quotation is how free online encyclopedia, Wikipedia defined Ghana’s worsen energy crisis which has left almost the entire country in real frustration.

“Dumsor” is an Akan language which means “to turn off the light and on it” has now become a cliché in Ghana after the incumbent government failure to resolve the power crunch.

The name “Dumsor” despite been popular in Ghana gain international recognition when recently the founder and president of IMANI Ghana wore a T-shirt with bold inscription ‘Dumsor’ during a state visit to Australia.

However, the phrase which is now on Wikipedia quoted President John Dramni Mahama of using the word in his recent visit to Germany.

“John Mahama used the word in a state visit to Germany while talking with Angela Merkel, he indicated he has been nicknamed "Mr. Dumsor" due to the power crisis, where he attributed it to Nigeria for not supplying gas as required to Ghana through the West Africa Gas Pipeline” Wikipedia noted

Nonetheless, “Dumsor Dumsor” has been made available as an application [App] on Google Play Store of all android phone.

Checks on Google Play Store indicates at least four apps with the name Dumsor, thus, Dumsor, Dumsor Dumsor, The DumSor Flashlight and Dumsor Countdown.

Dumsor which is viral on other social media is to express anger at and disappointment in authorities for not solving the situation.
