The Ashanti Regional Police command has mounted surveillance to track down an unidentified person who has created a Facebook account in the name of the regional commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye.
The social media account with the profile name, 'DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye 4 IGP' which was created on February 12, 2015, is the third after two previous ones in January this year.
It is unclear what the motive of the imposter is but the profile suggests a campaign ostensibly to canvass support to make 'DCOP Kofi Boakye the next Inspector General of Police.
The previous two were reported to Facebook administrators and consequently deleted.
A statement issued by the regional police command distancing the command and the regional commander from the Facebook account said investigations are ongoing and that details of the account have been forwarded to the E-crime Bureau in Accra to help track down the perpetrator.
