The Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission on Wednesday advised companies and individuals operating postal courier services without license from the Commission to regularize their operations.

It is illegal for individuals and companies to operate postal and courier services without registering with the Commission for a license, the Commission said.

Mr. Annan Riverson, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, announced at a meeting with courier operators at Takoradi.

He said the Commission would soon embark on a nationwide exercise to flush out illegal postal and courier operators who were depriving registered operators of business and the government of revenue.

Mr. Riverson said some people were operating postal and courier services under the guise of food delivery and event organizers.

He said the Commission would soon come out with stickers for registered operators and the names of registered operators in good standing would be published annually.

Mr. Riverson said there were 28 registered operators in good standing as at end of 2014.

He said Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission Act established the Commission as a regulator to license and regulate postal and courier services in the country.

Mr. Riverson advised the general public not to transact business with any unlicensed courier service provider.
