My attention has been drawn to a publication in the Thursday February 19th 2015 edition of “The Al-Hajj” newspaper accusing me of having sponsored and leaked a secret tape recording of a meeting of some leaders of the New Patriotic Party in Koforidua in the Eastern Region. The said meeting according to the paper discussed the party’s strategies for election 2016 and unsavory tribal comments purported to have been made by Hon. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, a leading member of NPP.

I want to state categorically that the publication is absolutely false, malicious and calculated at tarnishing my hard won reputation as a loyal member and leader of the New Patriotic Party. I have not sponsored, masterminded or induced any such mischievous recording of an obviously confidential meeting of the party let alone leak such a tape for purposes of undermining the unity and harmony of the party.

It is clear that the “The Al-Hajj” newspaper which is a propaganda mouth-piece of the NDC is pursuing an agenda to deepen any real or perceived differences within the New Patriotic Party. In pursuing that agenda, the newspaper has no business drawing me into their dirty propaganda. I hereby demand an immediate retraction of the said malicious story and apology for dragging my name in the mud. I am a very loyal and committed member of the New Patriotic Party and will not do anything to undermine the success of the party.
