NDC Demo Will Not Come On

The Organised Youth of Ashanti (OYA), a group under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed its intended demonstration.

The group had earlier intended to embark on a ‘1,000 March for Mahama’ to counter the numerous complains about the ruling government and to declare their unflinching support for President John Dramani Mahama as well as trumpet the ‘so many’ achievements of the current administration.

Another group, Movement for Change (MFC), aligned to the opposition NPP had also decided to demonstrate against President Mahama for his inability to solve the never-ending energy crisis in the country.

Both groups set the same date; February 24, 2015 to embark on their demonstration and the fear was that the two groups could possibly clash which might result in violence flaring up.

Spokesperson for the group Brogya Genfi told Kwami Sefa Kayi in an interview, Monday, that they had to postpone their intended March due to various threats they had received from unknown sources.

Brogya, who doubles as the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the NDC, however added that they are yet to inform the police about the threats they had received.

OYA plans holding a press conference on Tuesday, 24th February, 2015 to announce a new date for the Mahama March.
