AUDIO: NPP, We Are Our Own Enemies Osafo Marfo

A former Finance Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration, Yaw Osafo Marfo has recently come under heavy flak after a tape emerged with a male voice spewing tribal comments.

The male voice alleged to be that of Osafo Marfo is heard bemoaning why Akan-speaking people, whose regions are rich with natural resources, are not the ones at the helm of managing affairs in this country.

“…You have all the resources, but you have no say in the management of your resources and that is what is happening. Your development depends on the one who has no resources…you can’t say this openly,” the voice said.

The tape was captured at a meeting between the former Finance Minister and the NPP’s Council of Elders in the Eastern region.

Speaking in an interview on Tuesday’s edition of ‘Kokrokoo’, Osafo Marfo said he suspects one of the NPP Members at the meeting was paid to do the recording.

“I was shocked when I heard the tape being played on Radio Gold…the tape would only come from an NPP member who was at the meeting and who has probably been paid or does not like me. The person probably gave it to the highest bidder. Indeed, we (NPP) are our own enemies…It can also be that somebody planted a recorder in the room before the meeting commenced,” he stated.

Osafo Marfo again indicated that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is intentionally using the tape which he claimed has been pieced together, to divert attention from the NPP's ‘Won Gbo’ demonstration.
