If NDC Govt Loses 2016 Elections, NPP Will Suffer Worse Energy Crisis - NDC MP

Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Hon. Adjei Mensah is already bemoaning the fate of his party; the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next 2016 general elections saying if the President Mahama-led administration does not solve the crisis immediately the NDC risks losing power.

According to him, NDC government cannot face the 2016 general elections with the current energy crisis in the country as it is affecting the livelihood of all Ghanaians and businesses.

Speaking on Oman Fm’s National Agenda Morning Show, the NDC MP warned it will be at the peril of his party [NDC] if a solution is not found to the erratic power supply on time; advising that the NDC government needs to sit down and plan well on how to resolve the crisis immediately.

He again confessed that the power crisis currently being faced by the present administration is massive compared to what the energy technocrats made the government to believe; adding “our society on daily basis is becoming sophisticated with the use mobile phones and other gadgets imported into the country”.

Whiles not directly blaming the energy crisis on the large number of mobile phones currently in circulation, Hon. Adjei Mensah however imputed that it is a contributory factor as the number of phones in people's hands has doubled over the past three years.

...we as a nation, we need to find a lasting solution to the energy situation because the fire-fighting approach whereby we buy toy generators is not the lasting solution,” he said.

He however feared that the erratic power supply will continue under the opposition NPP if his ruling NDC government is unfortunate to lose the political mantle in the 2016 general elections.

If NDC government is not fortunate and does not win the 2016 elections, NPP will still suffer if they win the elections; the energy crisis will hit them harder and so let’s all find a lasting solution to the energy crisis in order not to face this ordeal again in the country”, he pleaded.
