Man Clubs Father To Death

A man believed to be in his late 30s has clubbed his father to death for preventing him from attacking another man.  The incident happened at Koakyire, a small farming community near Atobiase in the Wassa East District of the Western Region.

The suspect, Mr Kwesi Kaya, was said to have committed the act over the weekend.

A resident who recounted the incident to The Finder said the suspect had wanted to attack a neighbour without any provocation. When his father, Daa Adjei, who was about to take dinner, got wind of the behaviour of his son, he rushed to the scene to stop his son from attacking the man.

Mr Kaya, who was not happy that his father, aged about 70, stopped him, pounced on his father and hit him with a piece of wood he was holding. A woman by name Mama Gika said, “The father was rushed to Praso Government Hospital but was pronounced dead."

Information gathered indicates that Mr Kaya has been arrested and is currently in police custody at Wassa Atobiase whilst the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Praso Hospital morgue for autopsy.

She said the family members have been tight lipped because of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
"Family members are not willing to share the story. They are also not showing up to assist the police to get to the bottom of the matter," a concerned neighbour said.
