VIDEO: Power Minister's Job On The Line...As Prez Vows To Hold Him By His Word

Current minister for Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, was under no duress when he publicly told Ghanaians that he would personally tender in his resignation letter if he is unable to lead the new ministry to end the unreliable power supply in the country.

It was on the back of his bold declaration that President Mahama stated in his address to the nation that if by the end of this year, the minister is unable to fulfil his promise, he would hold him by his word.

I would hold the minister to his publicly stated commitment to resolve the electricity supply deficit by the end of this year”, were the words of President Mahama as he stood before Parliament.

According to the president, in order to give a sharper focus and effort to the resolution of the present energy shortfall, he had to carve the Ministry of Power from the Ministry of Energy.

Aside this, President Mahama claims he has authorised the ministry of Power to procure and feed into the system, 1000 megawatts of emergency power as an immediate measure to solve the current energy crisis.
