Employment and Labour Relations minister, Haruna Iddrisu has virtually accused Adom FM of doctoring his comments on the floor of parliament about Ghana’s previous energy crises to put him in a bad light.

The Minister has therefore challenged the Accra-based station to produce the full tape of his ‘adumdum adumdum’ comments-made in Parliament in 2007, but which has since gone viral in the wake of the current three year old power crisis.

In the audio, he told Ghanaians the then ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) “has no excuse to plunge Ghanaians into darkness..” and that a “future NDC government, of which I am very optimistic of in 2009, should have no excuse” to subject Ghanaians to an energy crisis “because the opportunity exists, whether hydro or thermal” to produce enough electricity to meet the need of the nation.

The Tamale South MP accused the NPP of failing to “keep their honour” after campaigning under the slogan of “adumdum adumdum B3 gyae”, which means the worsening power crisis will come to an end, when they were seeking power in the run up to the 2000 elections.

Ghana experienced an 8-month power crisis between 2006 and 2007, and Mr Iddrisu’s promises on behalf of the now governing NDC in 2007 have received almost daily airplay over the past three years of erratic power supply.

Asked to explain his comments in an interview on Joy FM on Firday, February 27, 2015, Hon Haruna Iddrisu insisted his comments had been taken out of context, and dared Adom FM to produce the full tape.

Unfortunately, the Employment Minister could not categorically say his voice had been doctored except to say he had a right to rejoinder as a Ghanaian and that the station should play the tape in full for listeners to contextualize his comments.

Taking up the challenge the Adom News Team, played Hon Iddrisu’s entire submission on the station’s midday news popularly known as ‘Kasiebo is Tasty’, and asked listeners to judge for themselves.
