Sue EC For Causing Financial Loss To The State - Hon. Agyarko

NPP Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wougon, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko has charged the District Assembly aspirants to sue the Electoral Commission over the postponement of the Assembly elections to a later date.

The District Assembly elections, which have been scheduled for Tuesday March 3, 2015, were declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

This means that the elections have been rescinded and so, cannot come off on the stipulated date.

It has therefore been postponed until further notice.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Hon. Agyarko called for a law suit against the Electoral Commission for what he says is the lack of respect for the rule of law.

According to Hon. Agyarko, the EC inability to hold the elections has potentially caused financial losses to the State.

He further explained that when the elections are postponed, it may have rippling effects on the candidates.

They may incur some losses financially, he stated and so, stressed that some concerned persons should take the EC to court for possible reparation.

"Because they (EC) have created a financial loss to a lot of people and even to the State...“It’s a deliberate thing. It’s ‘mentie obiaa’. It’s ‘nobody can overcome me’; which has brought us to this end. And the implication is that the country has incurred losses." he said.
