The management and staff of Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) have welcomed the appointment of Mr John Awuah, as the bank’s new Managing Director.

According to them the new head will help spearhead the building of the bank’s successful re-branding through his experience as a seasoned and accomplished financial professional.

A release issued in Accra today quoted the bank’s Director of Finance and Administration, Mr Sam Acquaye, as saying that “We are very excited to begin this new phase in our strategic plan”.
He said “Mr Awuah brings his exceptional expertise and leadership skills to our talented group of UMB professionals”.

The release further added that “We look forward to the continued success of the UMB brand under his direction,” adding that “The entire staff of UMB and EXCO are happy to have Mr Awuah on board”.

The appointment of Mr Awuah follows the resignation on February 2, 2015, of Ms Nilla Selormey, the first MD of the bank after it was acquired for the Social Security andf National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) by Fortis Equity Fund Limited, a wholly owned Ghanaian company.
