Information available to Peacefmonline.com indicates that the business community has suspended their intended strike action set for Wednesday, 4th March, 2015.
The Joint Consultative Business Associations: Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ghana Automobile Dealers Association, Food and Beverages Association of Ghana and the Ghana Union of Traders Association.
The rest are: Importers and Exporters Association, Ghana Pharmaceutical Chamber, Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Customs Brokers Association of Ghana and Freight Forwarders Association of Ghana.
The strike action was meant to protest against the proposed implementation of the Ghana Conformity Assessment Programme (G-CAP) and the Advance Shipment Information. It was also to express their displeasure about the unfavourable business environment in the country.
A statement intercepted by Peacefmonline.com indicates that the strike action has been suspended.
The statement indicated:
The Joint Consultative Business Associations “wishes to inform the General public and the media of the suspension of our planned strike in protest against the implementation of the Ghana Conformity Assessment Programme (G-CAP), the Advance shipment information (ASHI) as well as the worsening conditions of the business environment in the c country”.
It further stated that “we however wish to state that we remain resolute on our demands for the appropriate authorities to ensure the cancellation of the G-CAP, ASHI and also improve the current business environment”.
"We wish to thank the media and the genral public for their support, we further ure our members to be on standby for any further directives".
