Ashanti NDC Executives Sabotaging Mahama

A youth group of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti region is calling for the immidiate resignation of party executives in the region or face their wrath.

The group calling itself Coalition of NDC Footsoldiers and Activists claim the regional executives are working assiduously to ensure President John Mahama loses the 2016 general elections. The peeved NDC activists from Zongo communities in the Ashanti regional capital include Bashaka Movement, Majority Motor Riders, Taskforce One, Zongo for Mahama, Operation One Million Votes and Gaskia Club.

Secretary of the Coalition, Ben Abdella on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Wednesday said they will chase out the “incompetent” regional executives if they don’t heed to their call. He noted that the group will on Monday March 9, 2015 hit the principal streets of Kumasi to express their displeasure about the state of affairs in the party.

The NDC footsoldier accused the Regional Chairman, Yaw Obimpeh of running a one-man show and causing disaffection in the party’s rank and file.

“President Mahama should wake up because these executives are sabotaging him ahead of the 2016 general elections” he stressed.

Ben Abdella stated that if the current executives are not made to resign, “our target for one million votes in the region in 2016 will be a figment of our imagination”.

Meanwhile, National Organizer of the party, Kofi Adams has called for ceasefire as the leadership meet to resolve the issue.

He indicated that though the footsoldiers have genuine concerns, they should use the appropriate party channel to get them addressed. “These are young men who have worked hard for the NDC to come to power so I understand their concerns” he added.

Kofi Adams is confident the issue will be resolved amicably to ensure their target to get over a million votes in the Ashanti region in 2016.
