A 38-year-old cobbler who threatened to kill the linguist of Nana Kodwo Addae II, Chief of Abura, Cape Coast, over a cemetery space has been granted bail by a Cape Coast District Magistrate’s Court.

Kobena Moses, also known as “Musah, the whole day”, was granted bail in the sum of Ghc5, 000 with one surety to be justified.

He pleaded not guilty to offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and threat of death. He would reappear before the court on Friday March 20.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Andam Okyere who prosecuted, told the court presided over by Mr. William Baffoe that the linguist and Moses are close relatives who live at Abura in Cape Coast.

He said on Tuesday December 9, last year, the linguist was sent by Nana Kodwo Addae to look for a space at the Abura cemetery for the burial of a relative which he did in the company of one Mr. Bernard Arthur son of the deceased and some other people.

He said the linguist, after allocating the space, left behind Mr. Arthur and the others to dig the grave during which Moses, armed with a machete, appeared in the cemetery and aggressively demanded the whereabouts of the linguist.

ASP Okyere said Moses threatened to kill the linguist with the machete if he had met him in the cemetery, prevented Mr. Arthur and the others from digging the grave because he had in mind using that space for his shoe-making busibess.

He  marched the two men to the linguist's house where Moses questioned the linguist on whose authority he had to allocate the place for a grave and rained insults on him.

Moses threatened to “butcher and Kill” the linguist, after which the incident was reported to the police, leading to the arrest of Moses, ASP Okyere said.
