XCLUSIV FOTOS: Amakye Dede, Patoranking, Efya and MzVee Missing!... As Lumba, Kojo Antwi Others Rock Accra Stadium

Climax of this year’s Ghana Music Week festival - MTN GH All-Star Live concert came off last Saturday March 7, 2015 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Highlife living legend abrantie Amakye Dede and Nigerian dancehall sensation Patoranking who were part of the four lead acts to mount the stage, were missing on stage throughout the night. According to a release from MUSIGA, Amakye Dede and Nigeria’s Patoranking could not perform due to technical reasons, even though they were all present at the Stadium.

However, female artistes Efya and MzVee who were also advertised to perform on the night, did not perform and they were both not seen at the stadium but no explanation has been given for their absence.

Meanwhile, the music maestro Kojo Antwi and ladies’ man Daddy Lumba aka DL, Samini, Kaakie, Guru, Rashid Metal, Jupitar, Episode, Obaapa Christie, Noble Nketsiah, Skinny Legend among others put up thrilling performances.

Though turn-out was not impressive considering the big names on the bill, fans, especially, those who filled the VIP area were very much thrilled by performances of their legends.

Speaking on challenges; Verus Nartey, a member of the Planning Committee explained: “We admit that the Accra Sports Stadium wasn't the best venue for the kind of people we were targeting. In all, about 5,500 people came to the show. We targeted 15,000 people as per the portion of the stadium used for the event. Because of the low turn-out, production people delayed the event thereby making it impossible for two key artistes to get to perform”.

Aside that, he continued…” our key goal of creating a platform to bring together and encourage participation of key industry players; and to recognize, promote and underscore the importance and value of Ghanaian music forms, was, to a large extent, achieved”

“Aside the few production challenges, I believe overall, we succeeded in giving our cherished customers another MTN experience”, added Richard Acheampong, GM MTN Marketing Services.
