Why Nana Konadu Rawlings Throws Punches At Prez Mahama

There must be a reason why Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings continues to throw punches at President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the “Daily Guide,” the former first lady took a swipe at President Mahama for threatening to sanction school heads who do not allow Muslim students to observe their religious practices in school.

Nana Konadu is reported to have said that the Presidents’ remarks contained in his “State of the Nation’s Address” lowers the esteem of the Presidency.

On another occasion Nana Konadu accused the President of Presiding over a corrupt regime.

She has also lashed out at the ruling national Democratic Congress (NDC) accusing its leadership of abandoning the principles of probity and accountability.

As a result of these and other attacks on the President, his Government and his party, many have been left wondering what the game plan of Nana Konadu may be.

One thing must be obvious; Nana Konadu has no intention of licking her own sputum and turning to the fold of the National Democratic Congress, which she claims to have helped form.

Indeed the very first indication of this came when her husband appealed to her return to the fold of the NDC.

Her response was an emphatic no.

There are very strong indications that Konadu is feverishly preparing to revamp the party she formed with her husband, the National Democratic Party (NDP).

Over the last couple of weeks, workmen have been striving to give the party’s Kokomlemle office a face lift.

Parts of the office are being extended.

There are also credible reports that Nana Konadu is seriously recruiting cadres of the NDC who are loyal to her and her husband for a show down with the NDC in the 2016 elections.

Her recent overtures to Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, the Presidential candidate of the largest opposition party should also serve notice that she has no interest in returning to the fold of the NDC.

Indeed, the signs are clear that Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings will present herself as the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party for the 2016 elections.
