The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has openly embarked on a campaign to transfer DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, from the region.
The diabolic plan is allegedly being implemented by a known NDC ‘macho man’ in Kumasi called CD.
He has embossed the inscription-‘Kofi Boakye Must Also Go’ on his RAV 4 vehicle with registration number GR 9195 P.
The car also has the portraits of President John Mahama.
CD’s call for the removal of DCOP Kofi Boakye from office has raised eyebrows in the area, because the Ashanti region has experienced total peace since DCOP Kofi Boakye was transferred to the region a year ago.
The police capo immediately stopped the activities of hoodlums, who openly robbed people of their belongings in the streets of Kumasi when he arrived in the Ashanti region.
The peace being enjoyed by the residents in the region is a huge credit for the NDC government, which CD belongs to.
In this regard, his demand for the removal of DCOP Kofi Boakye from office has come as a surprise to the people.
DAILY GUIDE learnt that CD is clandestinely being supported by influential NDC functionaries in the region.
The NDC top officials reportedly advocated the dismissal of Samuel Sarpong, former Ashanti regional minister, the paper gathered.
They have therefore turned their attention to DCOP Kofi Boakye because they believe he gave excessive reverence to Samuel Sarpong during his tenure.
According to reports, the NDC gurus also believe that DCOP Kofi Boakye has prevented them from openly displaying their power.
Many people in Kumasi that spoke to DAILY GUIDE lambasted the NDC members for undertaking the fiendish task.
According to them, they would resist any attempts by the NDC members to remove DCOP Kofi Boakye from office.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Police arrested the car with ‘Kofi Boakye Must Go’ inscription on Monday.
ASP Mohammed Yussif Tanko said the car was seized because police had information that it was a stolen vehicle.
According to him, the car was later released to the owner after the relevant documents covering the vehicle were produced.
He said the police released the car to owner with the ‘Kofi Boakye Must Go’ banners intact.
The police PRO explained that they did not know the particular Kofi Boakye that the car owner was campaigning against, hence their decision to release it.
