Bank Of Ghana Not Printing New Currency Denominations

The Bank of Ghana has debunked news making round on social media that it is printing new currency denominations, Maame Esi Hammond, Head of Cooperate Communications at the central bank confirmed to Peace FM on the "kokrokoo" programme, Monday.

Photos of new Ghana currency in different denominations were posted on Facebook and went viral on whatsapp as well. The denominations are in GH¢30, GH¢100 and GH¢200.

The source of the misinformation is not yet known, but comments suggests government might be printing these new denominations or has plans to do so.

However, Maame Esi Hammond who spoke to Peace FM said the Bank has no plans of printing new currency denominations, hence investigations will commence immediately to find the culprits.

“The public should disregard this information,” she said; adding that, “there are no such plans by the Central Bank to print new currency denominations.”
