Skills Galore At 4th Indomie Junior Olympics

It was an exciting scene characterised with skills and tenacity at the just ended 4th Indomie Junior Olympics held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.

North Darkuman Presby Junior High School (JHS) beat Assurance International School from Ashaiman 4-3 on penalties in a cracking final to win the coveted football trophy.

The schools which came top were all awarded trophies in the various disciplines in which they participated. They were also awarded souvenirs and products from Indomie.

About120 schools from the Greater Accra Metropolis participated in the event, with 16 schools participating in football.

 Schools which participated in 100 meters were 35, 18 schools also took part in volleyball while 12 schools showed their supremacy in basketball, as well as 12 for baton.

Nathaniel Ekow Morrison, the Chief Executive Director of Global Multimedia Consult (GMC), organisers of the Indomie Junior Olympics, said the event is one of the biggest platforms for young athletes in the basic school level.

He said GMC is dedicated to the promotion and development of sports in the basic and the senior high schools in the country.

Aside the Olympics, the school children were entertained with several side attractions like stage performances, music, dance, football skills display from two previous Red Bull Street Championship winners.

The Military and the St John’s Ambulance were there to provide security and first aid respectively to the school children at the event.

The 4th junior Olympics Games 2015 was sponsored by Indomie instant noodles, with support from Events Empire Ghana Limited.
