Weeks after the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’’s) mammoth protest, christened “Won Gbo” meaning ‘we are dying, was staged, a 33-year-old man, Bright Takyi Peprah cannot be accounted for, the New Crusading Guide intelligence has gathered from the Akim Oda area.
Bright who is believed to be a strong NPP activist went missing after engaging in a ‘hot’ political debate with some sympathizers of the ruling NDC over which political party has got the best policies to steer the affairs of the country in the right direction.
After the debate that ensued between the two parties, information available to this paper is that Bright was given a hefty beating by the NDC sympathizers who probably believed that his actions were going to bring misfortune to Akim Oda NDC in the next elections should he continue to run down the ruling government.
Having received the beatings, Bright has since not been found and the issue has been reported to the Police in the Akim Oda environs.
However, it appears the goon-squad banning for his blood are not ready to budge as signals picked from the area revealed that every evening they have been hovering around his family house to see if they could lay hands on him and lynch him.
His family members are therefore urging his to remain in his hideout as it appears there no safe place for him as far as his unidentifiable assailants are concerned.
The “won gbo” demonstration organized under the aegis of the NPP is undoubtedly one of the biggest demonstrations Ghanaians have witnessed currently. Right from the hyping of the demonstration on the social media, print and the electronic media to the mobilization of the people and subsequent pouring on the street with all black and all red attire will indeed go into the history books.
The protest formed part of series of demonstrations to hit the country in the coming months.
It was also to demonstrate against what the party said were perceived corruption, unemployment and hardship under the Mahama-led administration.
The demonstrators virtually painted the streets of the business district of the capital red and black- the colours used for the march.
The peaceful protest which started from the popular Obra Spot ended at the Hearts of Oak Park near the Arts Centre where leaders of the party took turns to address the gathering.
Nana Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the party, addressing the crowd at the Hearts Park accused President John Mahama of being unconcerned about the energy crisis which he said was collapsing industries.
He said the NPP would continue to demand for the right things to be done until the changes Ghanaians expected were affected.
He said the energy crisis was affecting all Ghanaians irrespective of their political affiliations, a reason why all must rise to demand for an immediate end to the crisis.
He urged President Mahama to change his leadership style for the masses to benefit from the path of democracy the country had chosen.
