Ministers Are Servants; Prez Mahama Is The Chief Servant - Kabila

Former CPP National  Youth Organizer, James Kwabena Bomfeh, also called Kabila, has entreated the country's Ministers to humble themselves in service to the nation.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kabila rebuked the President's Ministerial appointees for parading themselves as "gods and lords" as soon as they assume their offices.

But to him, Ministers are supposed to be "servants", attending to the needs of the people of Ghana.

Kabila was reacting to the recent Ministerial reshuffle which saw Minister for Youth and Sports Mahama Ayariga reassigned to the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation.

Before the reassignment of Mahama Ayariga to the new Ministry, there were several calls on the Presidency to remove him from post after dressing down some media personalities in the country, when queried on radio about the Black Stars expenditure at the AFCON 2015, in Equatorial Guinea.

During an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo" some months ago on the Blacks Stars budget for the AFCON, Mahama Ayariga minced no words as he insisted he would only reveal the content of the budget to the Auditor General and not the media.

To Mr. Ayariga, he was not appointed by the media and does not account to the media, he told the host.

Kabila therefore addressed his (Mahama Ayariga) character to the media and questioned his authority.

“Who are you accountable to? The Auditor General, who appoints the Auditor General? On whose authority and behalf does the Auditor General audit the public purse? But if it’s orientation or understanding that we don’t have or lack of Knowledge; some people assume that the moment they become Ministers, they have become gods and lords unto us. No!"

Though his reassignment may appease the critics of his administration at the Youth and Sports Ministry, Kabila however insists that Mr. Ayariga should be shown the exit from the Mahama-led government.

He stressed that President John Mahama should sack him outright from government.

“Go back to the constitutional arrangement and understand that Ministers are servants. The President is the Chief Servant. This is why we are saying that the President should be removed from all responsibilities such as taxes so as to serve us well," he refered to Mahama Ayariga.
