NPPs Press Confab Most Foolish Thing To Do - Solomon Nkansah

National Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Solomon Nkansah has described the press conference organized by the opposition NPP following the acquittal and discharge of businessman, Alfred Woyome on Gh¢51 million judgment debt as the most foolish event ever in the annals of the country's political history.

An Accra High Court last Thursday acquitted and discharged Mr. Woyome of charges of causing financial loss to the state and defrauding by false pretenses.

Trial judge John Ajet-Nassam said the State could not convince the court that the financier of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) caused financial loss to the state and also defrauded the state.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday on the issue, Communications Director for the NPP Nana Akomea, accused state prosecutors of deliberately putting up a weak case that led to the state’s defeat in the matter.

According to him, President Mahama and the Attorney General must prosecute all state officials who have been mentioned in connection with the case.

Ghanaians should therefore demand the prosecution of all officials who facilitated this “mistake” or this create, loot and share. Enough is enough….," Nana Akomea said.

But reacting to the NPP press confab, Solomon Nkansah on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show fumed over the attitude of the opposition NPP, saying he is tempted to side with Hon. Kennedy Agyapong that the NPP fraternity is now dabbling in foolish things in this country.

He asserted that the opposition party’s press conference was done to cover the efforts of President Mahama in his fight against corruption. He described President Mahama’s administration as transparent for setting up various commissions and committees to openly investigate his own people for engaging in activities which retard the country's progress.

...what the NPP did yesterday was exactly what Ken Agyapong described his party; they are using their foolishness to thwart the wise decision of the Attorney General to appeal the ruling of the High Court on Woyome’s acquittal and discharge”.

NPP should have encouraged the A-G to go all out to appeal the ruling and also to ignore the threat of Woyome, rather they are doing foolish things. NPP is a kind of a party that whenever something good is going on in the country, then they are feel unease and politicize the issues. It is about time Ghanaians take a second look at the activities of the NPP and determine whether they are not foolish things or something else”, he fumed.
