Terkpers Head On The Block As Party Gurus Bay For His Blood

In the face of the economic downturn the country is currently experiencing with particular emphasis on the power crisis, some influence peddlers in  the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) are busy breathing heavily down the neck of President John Dramani Mahama to oust the Finance Minister, Seth Terkper from office for the reason that the Minister is too firm and does not allow room for their maneuver.

According to a deep throat sources, the people at the center of the scheme are ‘firing’ from all cylinders for the President to take advantage of the ongoing piecemeal ministerial reshuffle to remove Seth Terkper from office.

But the latter is only hanging on because of the influence of some executives and senior members of government who have reposed a lot of confidence in him and still believe the Minister is on course and should be allowed to continue, especially because of the current economic challenges and the new programmes being introduced from IMF.

Surprisingly, one of the brothers of a top gun has been mentioned in the ‘operation-get-Terkper-out’ and he is reported to have boastfully told his friends at a meeting that he was capable of getting any minister out of office because his brother listens to him.

Information is rife that the said brother is much interested in replacing the Minister of Finance with his deputy minister, Mona Quartey.

Readers will recall that Mr. Terkper came under flaks from some pro-NDC newspapers last year with some notable NDC gurus and colleague ministers, including Mahama Ayariga attacking him with claims that he (Terkper) was overly truthful with the real state of the economy and it was making it difficult for party communicators to defend the government.

It got so bad at the time that President Mahama was forced to admit that there was a lot of machinations going on to get Terkper out of office but expressed confidence in his finance minister.
