Ato Sarpong Expresses Vote Of Confidence In Power Minister, Belittles Fitch Ratings

Deputy communications minister Ato Sarpong has expressed great optimism in the ability of the Minister for Power to change the country’s dumsor situation around.

The minister who was speaking on Kumasi based Fox FM assured Ghanaians the power situation should see a considerable improvement by the month of June. He adds the situation should have been completely solved by the end of the year.

He explains that the power minister is putting in a lot to ensure he lives up to his promise to Ghanaians and the entire government machinery is supporting him in dealing with Ghana’s power crisis.

The Deputy Minister also dismissed implications of Fitch’s latest ratings on the country saying investors look beyond fitch’s ratings in their business considerations and hence concludes that though the country is facing challenges, Fitch’s ratings will not necessarily affect foreign investments in Ghana.

Ratings agency Fitch has affirmed Ghana’s credit-worthiness at B, with negative outlooks, few days after Moody’s downgraded the country from B2 to B3, a situation which has become a source of worry for many business interests in Ghana.
