Nursing Mother Arrested For Selling "Wee"-Laced Toffees

The Police in Koforidua have arrested a nursing mother for selling candies made of weed.

According to the police, the suspect was part of a drug peddling syndicate that has been processing weed into different products such as cakes and toffees for sale to customers.

The arrest comes just a week after a drinking bar operator was arrested for selling alcohol laced with the illegal substances

In July 2014; the Greater Accra Regional Office of the Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) mounted a search for an unnamed peddler of cannabis (wee) laced biscuits in the Ashaiman municipality.

According to officials, the biscuits, which were being produced locally, were also being offered for sale to unsuspecting members of the public, including school children.

Drug peddlers in recent times have been resorting to such measures to ply their trade in order to evade arrest by the police.
