I Dont Want Nana Addos Influence At This Stage Philip Addison

Ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primaries on May 24, lead counsel for Nana Akufo Addo and two others in the Presidential election petition, Philip Addison, has said he does not want Nana Addo’s support at this stage of his campaign.

Philip Addison told Citi News that he has not consulted or discussed his Parliamentary ambitions with Nana Akufo Addo yet.

“You will not believe this but I have not discussed my candidature with Nana Akufo Addo. I do not want his influence at this stage. I believe that I should on my own steam gauge the level of support for me. And at this stage I am fully satisfied with the kind of reaction I am receiving,” he stated.

According to Philip Addison, he has widely consulted with opinion leaders and other stakeholders on his ambitions before formally declaring his intentions.

He stated that Nana Akufo Addo will need a majority in Parliament to assist him to govern the country when elected as the President in 2016, hence his intentions to contest in the primaries.

“The last elections led to a petition and now we are going to have another election and there will be no petition. This time round the NPP has to win the elections. When Nana Akufo Addo wins as President, you need to have a majority in Parliament to assist him in governing the country and that is why I decided to step forward to assist,” he disclosed.

Philip Addison added that he has been a member of the party since 1992 and stated that he has been active in the party over the years.

On his qualification to contest the primaries, he said “my mum and dad are all from Osu”.
