Activists of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region have threatened to stage a demonstration against some regional executives of the party whom they claim have “hijacked” the NDC and operating it “in their own homes.”
The advocates, made up of past executives of the party’s Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN), said their protest is to drum home the need for fairness and accountability within the party leadership in the region.
According to the activists, the Chairman, Gyapong Kudjo, Organiser, Henry Ametepe, and Secretary, Simon Amegashie Viglo, have turned themselves into untouchable people in the region.
Eddison Aloka, a leader of the group, in an interview with Citi News on Wednesday, alleged that the “three musketeers” have hijacked positions, including the office of treasurer, and are controlling the pulse and direction of the NDC in the region.
He claimed “the chairman goes about mobilising funds and using it for his personal gains.”
Mr Aloka said, “The slightest comment you make in scrutinising them, they would take you on, they go attacking you, threatening you; even at night when you are asleep they come knocking at your door and threatening to change your sleeping position.”
He also accused the three party officers of attempting to usurp the powers of the Regional Minister, Madam Hellen Adjoa Ntoso, as well as plots to remove her from the position.
Mr Aloka lamented that the actions of the three officers are making the party unpopular in the region.
The group has served the Police with its notice of the intended protest, slated for Wednesday April 1.
