Asamoah Gyan Marks Injury Return In Al Ains League Cup Defeat To Al Ahli

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan marked his injury return in Al Ain’s 1-0 defeat to Al Ahli in the Arabian Super Cup on Friday night.

The 29-year-old returned to action having been sidelined for a week after sustaining a thigh injury.

Al Ain coach Zlatko Dalic did not hand the former Sunderland striker a starting role at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium.

The Ghanaian international who had missed his side’s two previous matches was introduced in the 74th minute as he came on for teammate Diaky Ibrahim.

The prolific goal poacher was impressive for the bosses but could do little to help them avoid a painful defeat away from home.

Gyan suffered an injury in Al Ain’s 1-1 stalemate with Al Dhafra in the Arabian Gulf League last week.

The Black Stars skipper however missed his side’s Asian Champions League clash with Uzbekistani side Pakhtakor.

His injury eventually led to his exclusion from the Black Stars squad for the international friendlies with Mali and Senegal.
