Ho Central NDC Supporters Urged To Be Calm

Mr. Devine Ferg Afedo, Chairman of the Ho Central Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has advised party supporters to remain calm and not disturb the peace in the area.

He said concerns expressed by some party members that government has not appointed any person from the area for a ministerial position was only a reminder to the authorities.

Mr Afedo assured party supporters that the constituency executives consider the concerns as legitimate and would inform the NDC hierarchy about the situation.

He, however, reminded the supporters that political appointments were the sole prerogative of the President of Ghana as enshrined in the 1992 constituency.

Mr Afedo said the executives would support the NDC and President John Dramani Mahama, and work hard to deliver to obtain more votes for the party in the 2016 general election.

Mr Afedo was reacting to a publication in Tuesday March 24, 2015 edition of The Ghanaian Times, which indicated that, there was heightening displeasure in the Ho Central Constituency by members of the party over the government’s failure to appoint a minister of state from the area since 1992.

He said Mr Wisdom Edem Nkornoo, the Ho Constituency Organiser, told the GNA that, efforts to contain agitators by NDC youth groups and branch executives were unsuccessful.

He said it was unfortunate that nobody from the area was in the register of ministers of state since the commencement of constitutional rule in 1992, though the area remained stronghold of the NDC.
