The 2012 presidential candidate of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom has bemoaned attacks on businessmen in the country.
Political witch hunting he said has led many businessmen in the country to keep quiet on many issues affecting the country and their businesses.
Dr. Nduom, who was speaking to students at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) on Tuesday, said the fear of attacks by politicians has been a principal reason for people to keep quiet in the face of glaring wrongs.
Such issues, he said include the recent power outages which has lead to the collapse of several Ghanaian companies and the laying off of several hundred workers.
He mentioned that these attacks come from politicians who see the largesse they have acquired from the state as their only means of survival.
These politicians, he said fight tooth and nail to defend these largesse and that includes taking businessmen who complain of hardships in the country to the cleaners.
This and other factors including the fear of their businesses being harassed unnecessarily has led to the lack of 'solid entrepreneurs' in Ghana.
Ghana, he continued lacks businessmen whose businesses would outlive generations.
