Bawumia To Take Charge Of NPPs 2016 Campaign

National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Paul Afoko, has finally confirmed series of publications by The aL-hAJJ that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s third attempt at the presidency is to prepare grounds for his protégé and three times running mate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to Paul Afoko, the party has deliberately fashioned out an elaborate plan to consign its twice defeated presidential candidate, Nana Akufo Addo, behind the scenes and instead, project Dr Bawumia to lead its 2016 battle against the ruling National Democratic Congress.

He said all recent public engagements by the former deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, which ordinary should have been done by the Nana Akufo-Addo, was a strategy sanctioned by the leadership of the party, saying “everything you see us do is deliberate.”

Mr Afoko’s revelation on Joy Fm’s midday news, Monday, comes on the heels of constant denials by Nana Akufo-Addo die-hards that he has hatched plans to use his third attempt at the presidency to prepare grounds for a future Bawumia presidency.

Prior to the NPP’s flag bearer contest, The aL-hAJJ, in a series of publications revealed how Nana Akufo-Addo and his henchmen planned to maintain their grips on the party by shepherding Dr Bawumia to stardom.

The plot was to get the former Abuakwa South legislator to grab the flag bearer slot at an advance age of 70 and hastily appoint the twice unlucky vice presidential candidate as running mate with the hope of relinquishing the mantle to him later on.

The paper also reported that Dr Bawumia will be made to lead the party’s 2016 campaign in order to prepare him for a bigger task ahead.
However, the office of Nana Akufo-Addo denied the publication, accusing The al-hAJJ of peddling falsehood to obliterate the chances of the former Foreign Affairs Minister’s presidential dreams.

In a statement signed by one Kow Essuman, Nana Akufo-Addo’s office stated “we wish to assure the good people of Ghana that the story is entirely false. This alleged news item only exemplifies the unacceptable face of creative journalism which seems to be the specialty of The Al-Hajj newspaper.”

But even before the 2016 campaign starts, National Chairman of NPP, who has come under constant attacks from party loyalists over allegations of working against Nana Akufo-Addo, confirmed this paper’s revelation.

Without mincing words, Paul Afoko, revealed that recent demonstrations that Dr Bawumia has led coupled with public lectures he has been addressing in recent times are all part of the party’s deliberate strategies to make him visible while Nana Akufo-Addo takes a backseat.
