"Dum Sor" Will End By 2015; I Assure Ghanaians

A Deputy Communications Director of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kweku Boahene has assured Ghanaians that the current "dum sor" situation which has become a household name will be resolved by the end of 2015.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Kweku Boahene told host Kwami Sefa-Kayi that the government is working diligently to ensure that Ghanaians experience 12 hours of lights out and two or three days of lights on till the power crises fade out of the economy this year.

According to him, there will be no power cuts so as to give Ghanaians comfort and soundness in their endeavours.

“We won’t experience the 24 hours (of lights out), 12 hours in. It could reduce for us to experience 12 hours of dum sor (lights out)” while the nation enjoys three days of lights on.

He disclosed that the reason Ghanaians enjoyed several days without any interruptions in the power supply is due to the huge quantities of gas which were supplied from Nigeria to the country.

He also said the thermal plants which broke down resulting in the worst power crises since last year have been repaired to generate more power for consumers.

To Kweku Boahene, President John Dramani Mahama is the right President for Ghana.

“By the close of this year, the 'dum sor dum sor' will be over. Right now, I’m very confident...

"Kwame Nkrumah sat on the seat of government and built factories in Ghana. The next President who has come is His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. I promise you that before he ends his tenure, there will be exceeding joy in Ghana. Ghana will be a haven for everybody to tap his or her chest and be proud to be a Ghanaian.”
