18 Years In Radio Is Enough To Explore Other Potentials I have - Abeiku Santana

Renowned Radio Broadcaster Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey (Santana) has finally affirmed his intention to contest the parliamentary primary for the Mfantseman Constituency seat in the Central Region.

According to him, his intention to go into full time politics is to change the status quo in Parliament where Parliamentarians rather seek the interest of their party than the people they represent in the House.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, Abeiku Santana as he is known in the media fraternity said Ghanaians should not be surprised that some journalists have decided to go to Parliament because it is time to see many other professionals in Parliament to bring change in Parliament’s way of discussion issues.

Addressing the issue of who a politician is, Abeiku Santana indicated that nobody is trained as a politician as there is no institution in Ghana which trains people to become politicians but rather politics comes from people and the public, making anybody who speaks for the public a politician in disguise.

Commenting on his sudden interest to go to Parliament, the host of Okay Fm’s Drive Time “Ekwanso Dwodwoo” said his 18 years in radio broadcasting is enough for him to explore other potentials he has as he had always wanted to speak for the people.

“I have done radio for 18 years and so I must explore other potentials that I have. I have always wanted to speak for the people and even if I go and I don’t get the bid, I will become a social activist; I will speak the minds of the people regardless of their political affiliations”.

“there must be a change and revolution must come in this country and it must start from the youth….I think we should rather encourage the journalists than to rebuke them; we have very good quality materials who can go to Parliament but the challenge has always been the fear of criticisms and insults from the public”, he charged.
