Obamas Wish When He Lands

The President of the United States (US), Barak Obama, plans to visit the historic Cape Coast castle with his wife and two children to acquaint themselves with the vestiges of the slave trade and all its infamous trappings. According to the Information Minister, Hon. Zita Okaikoi who disclosed this on Peace FM's kokrokoo show, the first African American President of the United States decided to visit the Cape Coast Castle with his two children because he wants them to know their heritage. She added that it was President Obama's wish to see more of the country but time and security constraints have necessitated an upgrade in his original itinerary. She said that, the President wishes his daughters to trace the footprints of their forefathers and have a feel of their harrowing experience at the hands of the early slave owners. This is because Mrs Michelle Obama is a descendant of slaves, being an African American herself. The Minister disclosed that the visiting President will arrive sometime on Friday evening, but he will not meet with President Mills until the next morning for a Presidential breakfast. Thereafter Mr Obama will deliever a major policy speech before parliament which will be sitting at the International Conference Centre. The U.S President will also visit Accra Polyclinic to familiarize himself with its challenges and achievements before heading off to Cape Coast.
