Addison Warms Up For Korle Klotey Seat

Lawyer Philip Addison has expressed his desire and readiness to bring his experience and expertise to bear to improve the livelihood and living standards of the constituents within the Klotey Korley electoral area, as he gears up for the Parliamentary seat of the area on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking in an interview with the renowned Lawyer to find out what inspired him to take such a bold step into the political world, after succeeding in warming himself into the hearts of many Ghanaians with his legal prowess during the last Presidential election petition, Mr. Addison indicated that his intention was hinged on the incessant calls from well meaning people within the constituency, to which he is responding, after thinking through it and knowing fully well what a call to serve the people meant to him.

He said, before he took up the challenge, he went down to the people on the ground to sample their views on his candidature and he realized he enjoyed massive endorsement from the constituents such that, even some National Democratic Congress (NDC) faithfuls expressed their preference for his candidature , which informed his decision in that regard.

He was also of the view that the NPP would do better and garner more votes in the Korley Klotey Constituency with his candidature; which will effectively help in propelling the NPP to victory 2016 in the general elections.

Asked what he brings to the table for the people of Korley Klotey if he is given the nod to lead them as their MP, Lawyer Addison noted that he is currently in competition with two others: Adjei Tawiah who is challenging for the second time for the seat and the former party Chairman, Nii Nortey, who just resigned his position to contest the seat but “Our fate rest in the hands of the delegates and when I’m given the nod by the delegates which I’m most certain about, there are some immediate and pressing needs of the people which I found out during my visits to the various areas and those are the quick fixes I will undertake soon as I’m elected as the MP and the rest shall follow.’’

Lawyer Addison identified the sore areas which needed immediate dressing as Abuja-CMB, with over 5000 residents whom the Railway Authorities are seeking to eject because they have sold the area to a private Developer who has also acquired a court order for demolition without the notice of the residents.

He said he has therefore filed an application for the court to set aside the order when it was brought to his attention because they deserve to be notified and the court needs to hear from them as well because they have been paying taxes to the Railway Authority for well over 40 years.

He also mentioned the area behind the castle and the beach area which is having a lot of environmental issues and needs massive infrastructure, because the nature of the area is such that when it rains it exposes the residents to cholera and other illnesses. The area around the Art Council is also suffering the same fate and needs to be addressed immediately.

Again, he touched on the perennial flooding at the Odawna which causes a lot of problems and discomfort for the people, especially during the rainy season and he hopes to address that when he is given the opportunity top represent the people in parliament.
