Ato Arthur Picks Forms To Seek Re-election

The Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem, Dr Stephen Nana Ato Arthur, has picked nomination forms to seek re-election in the New Patriotic Party primaries and consequently contest the 2016 parliamentary election in the constituency.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic in an interview after interacting with a section of supporters at Elmina last Monday, he called on supporters of the party to work hard for the party to wrest power from the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He also urged them to be dedicated and committed to the cause of the party and campaign vigorously for Election 2016.

He expressed worry about the turn of events such as the downward trend of the economy and the erratic power supply that had plagued the country.

Dr Ato Arthur advised the supporters to not involve themselves in acts that could drive away sympathisers of the party.

He reminded them of the effects of ‘’dumsor’’, the high price of premix, its shortage and the flaws in its distribution, pair trawling, the near-collapse of the National Health Insurance Scheme and other challenges facing fishermen and the youth and called on them to intensify their campaign for him to retain the seat for NPP in 2016.

He said he remained committed to the development of the area and that he had offered scholarships to 238 children in the area, adding that even though he did not have money, he had wisdom and the sense of responsibility to the people.

Dr Ato Arthur, who is a member of the Public Accounts Committee, asked them to compare the number of development projects undertaken in the area when he was the District Chief Executive to what had been provided under the NDC regime.

He mentioned some of the projects as a basic school at Abayee, street lights, the Elmina Health Centre and the dredging of the Benya River others, and described them as evidence of his good works.

He, therefore, asked the supporters to not shy away from the party but to continue to offer their unflinching support in order to retain the seat for the NPP.

He used the occasion to interact with some selected stakeholders in the constituency.
