Dep. E/R Minister Envisage Female Presidency

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama  Frimpong, has stated that there is likelihood that Ghana will soon get a female President to steer the affairs of the country. Miss Mavis Ama Frimpong said this in an interview after addressing female students of Koforidua Polytechnic during the launch of the SRC Women's Week Celebration on Monday that "it is possible, all we have to do is to assert ourselves and developed our God given talent and also developed the skills to pick up the leadership role, and once we developed our leadership skills we can become President of this nation. As I speak with you, we have Ministers of state, Chief Justice, Prison Commanders, we have even Naval Officers and Police Commissioners who are women ,so if we are able to developed our talents, why not?"

The deputy Minister averred that, the road to female presidency has been a process and very soon Ghana will get there. “I think it because in the past we were not getting many women into Parliament but now many women are expressing interest, so very soon we will get there".

She entreated the young female to be empowered and position themselves in readiness to ascend to leadership positions in all sectors to help in nation building.

The Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministry and a former Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Chamber of Mines, Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee said women has major role to play in nation building hence there is the need for young female to psychologically prepare themselves to occupy male dominated positions in all sectors of the economy. He called on women to unite and be strong to fight against sex for job canker eating deep into the morale fabric of the Ghanaian society.

The Women's Commissioner of Koforidua Polytechnic, Mavis Asante, encouraged women to be mindful of the fact that, they dominate the world Population hence nature has positioned female to occupy all areas in life and the world with responsibility of managing affairs. She therefore entreated young women to be inspired by quality leadership roles exhibited by many women across the world to Venture into leadership positions.
