Interior Minister And IGP Petitioned

Relatives of one Mr Issaka have petitioned the Minister of Interior, the IGP and the Western Regional Minister to investigate circumstance leading to the disappearance of Mr Issaka from the Sefwi Akontombra Police Cells. According to the petition signed by Mr Awuni John Ndebugri, Mr Issaka under the influence of alcohol mistakenly occupied an uncompleted premise of one Mr Kwaku Ackaah in the Sefwi Akontombra District in the Western Region. On seeing Mr Issaka in his premises, the petition said Mr Kwaku Ackaah allegedly organised some people to beat Mr Issaka after which he was sent to the Sefwi Akontombra Police Station and subsequently detained. It said relatives of Mr Issaka thronged the Sefwi Akontombra Police Station to request bail with surety for him. However, according to the petition, the Police Inspector in charge of the station, Mr Edward Antwi told the relatives that he had escorted Mr Issaka to Kumasi to board a car to Bawku because efforts to trace Mr Issakas relatives had been unsuccessful and that his (Mr Issakas) behaviour seemed abnormal. The petition said information reaching the relatives of Mr Issaka from Bawku indicates that Mr Issaka has not reached Bawku and has not been found anywhere in Sefwi Akontombra. The relatives therefore called on the Interior Minister and the IGP to order investigation into the matter to know the whereabouts of Mr Issaka.
