Hannah Tetteh Must Apologize

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Tema East Constituency, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover has called on the Minster of Foreign Affairs to immediately apologize for her response to the media on xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hanna Tetteh, on Friday morning stated in clear terms that she will not speak to Joy FM on the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa.

She said she would rather speak to Radio Gold, and that if Joy FM wished, it's staff should listen to that station for government’s position on the attacks.

Reports indicate that about four Ghanaians had lost their lives since the Xenophobic attacks in South Africa began.

As part of efforts to verify the story and to find out what government is doing to protect Ghanaians in that country, Joy FM called up Ms. Tetteh as Foreign Minister to speak to the issue.

But her response was curt; “I will not speak to you. I will be speaking to Radio Gold, if you want listen and take the sound from them.”

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Monday, Mr. Titus-Glover described the foreign affairs ministers’ reply as “cheeky and unfortunate” which demands an apology.

“Hannah Tetteh must apologize to Ghanaians because in her position, we need her to give us what is really happening outside the country and not for her to give us that response. It is uncalled for” he said.

The Legislator further appealed to the Government of Ghana to as matter urgency evacuate Ghanaian citizens in South Africa to prevent further casualties.

“She must go to the ground and ascertain what is happening rather than sending messages on the internet,” he added.
